For this elegant EDITION, MÜHLE collaborated with fellow Saxon Heritage brand Meissen. The breath-taking Ming Dragon, an iconic Meissen design is hand-painted. Symbolizing power, strength and good fortune it is the perfect mascot for the precious ritual of shaving.

Meissen is the oldest porcelain manufactory in Europe and the collaboration with MÜHLE illustrates the master craftsmanship inherent to both brands. During the baking process, porcelain is constantly shrinking. It, therefore, requires considerable experience to overcome fitting this changeable material onto the unyielding and exactly cut MÜHLE metal parts.

The Material - ancient oak and sterling silver

Brand new in the series and also supremely elegant: EDITION No. 3. These products are completely new and yet they tell of a long distant past: They are made of the finest ancient oak, an oak wood which rested airtight in swamps or on river banks for millennia, thereby acquiring a beautiful dark hue. The wood is refined with sterling silver, so that the fine indentations on its surface acquire a silvery gleam. Finally, the surface of these products is sealed in a high gloss finish the brush and razor are now not only beautiful, but also waterproof.

The Razorhead - Classic razor blade

For generations, the safety razor has been regarded as a stylish classic which can even shave edges with precision. For many, it is the razor par excellence. Its styling is ideally suited to the design of the MÜHLE products.

Even if the open blade does demand a little respect at first: After a brief familiarisation period, and guided by a steady hand, it produces a very close shave and a lasting result. Unlike modern blade systems, the head of the safety razor does not move. The blades are replaced by unscrewing the cap. They can be purchased from us and by retailers everywhere.

The Material - Carbon

Carbon is an element which occurs naturally in a wide variety of forms. Carbon compounds are even to be found in diamonds. Engineers and active racing experts enthuse about the carbon used in industry.

Aesthetes love above all the fine light reflections created by the dark material. Following a complex development process we use this challenging material for the innovative design of MÜHLE EDITION No. 1. In doing so, we work the conventional, flexible fibrous structures by hand in a special process.

Individual blanks which later become the handles of brushes and razors are covered with the weave. Then they are placed in a form where the fibres are evenly aligned and soaked and cured with high-grade resin in several work steps, then finally polished. This produces the gleaming surfaces with their dynamic reflections.

The MÜHLE Ancient Oak EDITION is a testament to our affinity with nature and our captivation with materials that hark to a distant past. MÜHLE is forever enthralled by the beauty of our surrounding environment in the Saxon Erz Mountains. We celebrate these breath-taking wonders of nature, by choosing unique natural finishes that tell a story.

Ancient Oak is cultivated for over a millennium in airtight bogs, swamps and river banks. The beautiful dark hue of the wood is created by reactions between wood tannins and the peat's acidity, whilst the low oxygen conditions prevent the Oak from decaying.

The precious wood is refined with sterling silver, allowing the fine indentations on its surface to acquire a glistening quality. The wood is then sealed with a high gloss finish, this not only gives a brilliant polish to the Oak but also makes it waterproof.

The Material:

Carbon attracts much admiration for its enigmatic beauty. The fine light reflections created by the dark material are equally alluring and wondrous.

Intricate and complex to create, the flexible, fibrous structures are initially worked by hand. The individually forged blanks, which later become the handles for the range, are then covered in the carbon weave and placed in a mould where the Fibers are evenly aligned. Lastly, the handles are soaked and cured with high-grade resin before a final polish.

Occurring naturally in a wide variety of forms with carbon compounds even to be found in diamonds, this exquisite material is an impeccable match to the MÜHLE EDITION Luxury Series.
