An effortless brush

"Using the extra large STF brush is like using cheat codes, it feels too easy to work up a lather, but nobody's complaining. It paints on the lather or face lathers equally well and the fibres of the brush do not have a springy resistance to a change in direction of your swirls on your face. On top of that, the fibre tips are very soft, but the face feel manages to mimic that of a very good silvertip badger uncannily. The fibres of the knot aren't too densely packed either, which means the brush isn't a lather hog, allowing for good flow-through of lather (and water when cleaning after use). If you know a badger purist, you should give them one of these brushes if you're trying to convince them to give synthetics a try. Both the manufacturer of the fibres and Muhle's employees can be proud of what they've made."

A phenomenal synthetic!

"Muhle's STF knots are in a class of their own, and the XL-sized knot is the best of the lot. This is the closest you're going to get to the natural feeling of a high quality silvertip badger brush. The brush retains water very similarly to natural fibres and displays a random "honeycomb" clumping of fibres pretty much the same as a real badger knot would. Lathering ability is close to effortless. Its sensation on the face is likewise very realistic. If you consider yourself a brush purist, you should at least try this brush before knocking synthetic brushes."

"Sort of upset that I followed through and bought the 25mm version of this brush. Muhle took all the fun away from trying other synthetics! See I have the 21mm version and it’s a great little brush but I could never get it to splay the way I prefer. This 25mm version is literally my end-all-be-all version of a synthetic brush. The flow-through is incredible, it splays effortlessly and is somehow even softer than the smaller version while still having backbone for even the hardest soaps. Not to mention it’s ability to get into the nooks and crannies without getting cream/soap everywhere like other large brushes."

"This brush builds very good lather but is too floppy for my liking. I find the loft on the brush too high and that causes the brush to be on the weak side. This may be right for others that like a softer brush, but not me. The build quality is good, but on the brush I received, the glue bump was above the handle which causes it to have even more loft. I gifted this brush to my son who is just beginning to shave and prefers the soft floppy feel."
