Unlike modern blade systems, the R41TWIST foregoes plastic mechanisms. Growing concern in the effects of disposable plastic makes the R41TWIST a great choice for the environmentally conscious, reducing both plastic waste and unwelcome environmental impacts, without compromising on precision.

The safety razor with open tooth comb was developed specifically for experienced wet shavers, allowing a vigorous, direct shaving technique. The blade is less likely to become clogged by stubble and residues so is generally preferred by men with denser, stronger beard growth.

The R41TWIST will be favored by those who prefer a slightly heavier model, and a more gently attuned safety razor. "Switched from Edwin Jagger and Gillette double edge safety razor, both being very good. "Build quality is excellent. This is the second Muhle razor I've purchased, the first was a closed comb I gave to a friend. I've used this razor a few times with Feather blades it seems to be ok, I've been DE wet shaving for about 15 years now, I also have a Mergress (adjustable) razor that has served me well. I typically don't spend a lot of time prepping my face and I shave in the shower, jury is still out if this open comb style will work for me personally but I'm glad I bought it, YMMV."
