"It feels like a straight edge but much easier to use. You can still nick yourself if you’re not careful, but that risk is pretty much nothing compared to a straight edge, and only a hair more than the average safety razor. I usually only need one to two passes to get baby smooth skin. The one downside is that the knurling on the grip is pretty shallow so when the handle’s wet it can get ever so slightly slippery if you’re not careful. Still slightly grippy though."

"The first one I had broke at the threads even though it was never dropped. So bought another, love the razor and shave but we will see if this one lasts. My dad still has his and my grandfather’s from the early 20th century still. The first one mad it 5 years. Definitely disappointed."

"I have a fast growing beard and I tend to shave every few days. This razor is perfect for that kind of use. I used the standard muhle blade and took my beard off in 2 passes with no nicks or weepers post. Very little stinging from the alum block post shave. I purchased the grand and am happy with the longer handle even though my hands aren't large. The balance just seems right with the longer handle and works with the way I hold my razor ( handle laced between my ring finger and pinkie. Yes it's an aggressive razor, but with a lighter touch and a gentler blade I feel it's just right for us sporadic shavers or heavy growth guys. My first review on anything... Ever. So I Gave it a 4 cause I've decided not to give 5s unless it walks on water or predicts my next ex-wife. Oh btw Lighter growth guys or every day shavers might look at the gentler R89 closed comb version also in the grand which I've also purchased and reviewed."
